A revenge quest inside a simulated world. .hack//G.U. Vol. 1: Rebirth follows Haseo, a player who enters the online game The World after an attack leaves his friend Shino comatose. Seeking the mysterious player known as Tri-Edge, Haseo begins a journey through virtual cities, rival guilds, unusual characters, and a conspiracy hidden behind the game’s online façade.

Action RPG combat in an MMO-inspired setting. Players control Haseo directly in real-time battles, chain attacks, switch weapons, use skills, and recruit party members while exploring dungeons and field areas. The game combines story events, character development, equipment upgrades, arenas, side quests, item collection, and a simulated online community presented through menus and in-world systems.
