Smelter

Smelter is a unique fusion of action-platforming and strategy developed by X Plus Company and released on 22/04/2021 for PlayStation 4.

Story and Setting

In a creative reimagining of the Genesis tale, you play as Eve, who awakens in a strange world after the fall of Eden. Determined to find Adam, she allies with Smelter — a mysterious, winged creature capable of granting her immense power. Together, they explore treacherous lands, fight monstrous creatures, and rebuild territories lost to chaos.

Gameplay

Smelter offers a distinctive combination of 2D side-scrolling action and top-down real-time strategy. During the platforming sequences, you control Eve and harness Smelter’s elemental armor forms — Earth, Air, and Lightning — each granting unique combat styles and traversal abilities. The action is fluid, fast-paced, and reminiscent of classic retro games with modern polish.

Between missions, the perspective shifts to strategic overworld segments where you command Smelter’s forces, expand your influence, and manage resources. This dual gameplay structure creates an engaging rhythm between intense combat and thoughtful strategy.

Visuals and Atmosphere

The game features beautifully crafted pixel-art environments that evoke the feel of classic 16-bit adventures. Each region is distinct, filled with detailed animations, vibrant colors, and an imaginative cast of characters that bring the world to life.

Overall Experience

Smelter stands out as a creative blend of genres that rewards both quick reflexes and tactical thinking. With its well-written dialogue, challenging boss battles, and a soundtrack that perfectly complements the action, it delivers a nostalgic yet fresh experience for fans of classic action-platformers and strategy hybrids
