Game Review

South of Midnight - PS5 - Step into a dark modern folktale set in the American Deep South, where reality and fantasy intertwine, and ancient creatures from folklore emerge from the shadows.

A spellbinding journey through a Southern Gothic world:

• Become a Weaver: Play as Hazel, a young woman called to master an ancient weaving power. Use magical strands to push, pull, and subdue dangerous creatures, and reweave the tears in the Grand Tapestry.

• Confront Mythical Creatures: Battle destructive Haints, twisted embodiments of painful memories drawn from real Southern folklore, and uncover the traumas that consume them in intense, aggressive combat.

• Explore the Gothic South: Discover the lush, decayed county of Prospero, a hauntingly beautiful world brought to life through a crafted visual style inspired by traditional stop-motion puppets and animation techniques.

• A Story of Family and Identity: Journey to rescue your mother and untangle the webs of your family's shared past, guided by a dynamic narrator in a storybook presentation that advances throughout the game.
